This Major project is designed to treat all of the incoming water for the City of Winnipeg from the Shoal Lake Aqueduct. The project consists of many different sub-projects that involved Durwest Construction in a complicated, specialized and innovative waterproofing and air/vapour barrier installation capacity that include:

Clearwell Reservoir (Bird Construction Company)
Over 80,000 square feet of waterproofing and insulation installed to the horizontal deck surfaces and walls of the new reservoir, using the Lexcan Design "D" waterproofing system. The installation is backed with a 20 year manufacturer's warranty and a 5 year installation warranty.

Raw Water Inlet Building (Bird Construction Company)
Over 10,500 square feet of waterproofing, insulation and protection board installed to the foundation walls, using the Lexcan Design "D" waterproofing system. The installation is backed with a 20 year manufacturer's warranty and a 5 year installation warranty.

Surge Tower (Gateway Construction & Engineering Ltd.)
Approximately 5,000 square feet of waterproofing, insulation and protection board installed to the foundation walls, using the Lexcan Design "D" waterproofing system. The installation is backed with a 20 year manufacturer's warranty and a 5 year installation warranty.

Main Water Treatment Plant Foundations & Structures (PCL Constructors Canada Inc.)
Over 80,000 square feet of waterproofing, insulation and protection board installed to the foundation walls of the main plant's 7 sub-buildings, gate chambers and tunnels, using the Lexcan Design "D" waterproofing system. The installation is backed with a 20 year manufacturer's warranty and a 5 year installation warranty.

Waterproofing of 3 aqueduct bridge crossings using hot applied rubberized asphaltic waterproofing membrane.

Main Water Treatment Plant - Building Envelope (PCL Constructors Canada Inc.)
Over 80,000 square feet of Perm-A-Barrier Liquid air/vapour barrier membrane by W.R. Grace. This marks the first time this highly specialized product was used in Manitoba. The 2-component environmentally friendly ("Green") spray applied liquid utilizes specialized spraying equipment and Durwest's installers underwent extensive training by W.R. Grace. We are proud of the fact that we are the first and only approved installers of this material in Western Canada!

Waterproofing of the PR206 highway aqueduct bridge crossing using hot applied rubberized asphaltic waterproofing membrane.
